Hong Kong (1841-1997) was a crown colony of the United Kingdom, located in southern in China. Due to the British Nationality Law of 1981 the designation was changed from crown colony to British Dependent Territory. The Sino-British Agreement of 1984 concluded that sovereignty of Hong Kong would revert to the People's Republic of China on July 1, 1997.
