The French National Committee (1941-1943) was a established in London by General Charles de Gaulle in opposition to Vichy France to organize the resistance against Germany. The Allies invaded North Africa in 1942 and gave their support to General Henri Giraud, which organized the French military and civilian commanders, which had previously been loyal to the Government in Vichy, under his authority. In 1943 the French National Committee and the French Command in Algiers were united into the French Committee of National Liberation.
