The Republic of Poland (1918-1939) was a republic in Eastern Europe. In September 1939, following the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact (₩), Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland and divided the country between them, thereby initiating the conflict that would develop into World War II.
